Board member of Ghana DJ Awards, Rab Bakari, dead

Board Member of the Ghana DJ Awards and facilitator of the Ghana DJ Clinic, Rab Bakari is dead.

A close source disclosed to ghanadjawards.org that the renowned music producer, DJ and entrepreneur died at Busua Beach in the Western Region on Sunday, March 6, 2022.

He is said to have died after an unsuccessful attempt to rescue him after drowning.

Before his passing, DJ Rab played instrumental roles to propel the growth of the DJing community while operating as a Board Member of the Ghana DJ Awards Festival. His most recent contribution was serving as an experienced panelist to educate and enable aspiring and established DJs at the Ghana DJ Clinic held on November 23, 2021.

DJ Rab was largely associated with the promotion of Hiplife music and entertaining music fans exceptionally in Ghana and beyond.

He has hands-on experience as an authentic New York Hip Hop creator, music producer, deejay, corporate person and social media platform advisor.

Even more, DJ Rab has contributed to several platforms such as Okay Africa and Africology. He has also worked for Universal Music Group (USA) for 10+ years in the past.

Additionally, he has hosted/participated as panels in shows including SXSW Music (USA); Social Media Week (Nigeria); CMJ Music Marathon (USA); Cariforum EU Business Forum (Jamaica); Geekend (USA); Kenya Music Week; WOMEX (Hungary); lectures at New York University (USA), Ghana DJ Awards and AFRIMA (Nigeria).
