At the launch of the Guinness Ghana DJ Awards 2025, DJ Phantom shared a unique perspective on his craft, likening his work as a DJ to that of a chef crafting a memorable meal.
“As the chef always cooks food for the people, I feel like I can cook music for the people to enjoy,” he explained. DJ Phantom described his creative approach as cooking the songs, where he carefully blends different styles and tracks together, serving them up in fresh ways to keep party goers happy from start to finish.
This innovative mindset sets him apart, “Instead of just mixing the songs, now we call the songs cooking, we are cooking the songs, then we serve our crowd. So before they leave, everyone is satisfied.”
Reflecting on his journey, DJ Phantom recalled his early days in school at Legon, where he was nominated for Student DJ of the Year, though he didn’t win on his first try. Staying persistent, the following year, in his final year at university, he took home the Student DJ award. Last year, he was nominated again, competing in both the Mobile DJ and Student DJ categories, but narrowly missed out.
DJ Phantom emphasized that the journey comes with its ups and downs, but he remains focused on the work. As this year’s awards approach, he is looking forward to filing for his preferred category: Mobile DJ of the Year. “We are just putting in the work. Let’s see how it goes,” he said with optimism.
This philosophy reflects DJ Phantom’s commitment to quality and innovation, highlighting his dedication to delivering a memorable musical journey for every audience he serves.
