This recognition highlights his growing influence in Africa’s music scene. Apple Music’s Africa Now DJ Mix series features top DJs from across the continent who create special mixes celebrating Africa’s rich and vibrant sounds.

As the featured DJ for July, AD DJ takes listeners on an exciting journey through popular African music styles like Hiplife, Afrobeats, and Amapiano, blending well-known hits with fresh tracks. His mix shows his talent for reading the crowd, pushing musical boundaries, and introducing new sounds.

About AD DJ
Adom Samuel Opoku, known as AD DJ, is one of Ghana’s most respected and influential DJs. He started mixing music as a hobby during university, which grew into a successful career spanning over 10 years. AD DJ first gained attention after winning the first YFM Campus DJ competition and later became a key figure at YFM, Ghana’s leading urban radio station.

He is known for his unique style that mixes Afrobeat, house, hip-hop, and reggae. AD DJ is a popular figure in Accra’s nightlife, serving as the resident DJ at the exclusive Front/Back club and performing at major events like Afrochella. Beyond DJing, he is passionate about promoting African music and culture both locally and internationally.

His talent and hard work have earned him several awards, including the Guinness Ghana DJ Awards Afrobeat DJ of the Year, and international recognition such as being named Apple Music’s “Face of Africa Now DJ Mix” for July 2025. AD DJ continues to push creative boundaries, inspiring a new generation of DJs and music lovers across Africa and beyond.

In addition to his musical achievements, AD DJ has made history as the official resident DJ for the fifth season of the Basketball Africa League (BAL), one of Africa’s premier basketball competitions organized by the NBA and FIBA. This season, AD DJ performed at multiple venues across Africa, including Morocco, Senegal, Rwanda, and South Africa, bringing his energetic sets to both the arenas and fan zones.
