Shake The Floor: Daddy Bosco urges DJs to bring Energy and Innovation at 2025 Guinness Ghana DJ Awards (Watch)

Music veteran Daddy Bosco has emphasized the crucial role DJs play in making Ghanaian music reach new heights.

Speaking at the launch of the 2025 Guinness Ghana DJ Awards held at Luna, he reminded DJs of the power they hold to connect artists with fans everywhere.

“Without DJs, music wouldn’t go as far as it could,” Daddy Bosco said. “They don’t just play songs, they help artists find new fans and make sure people everywhere enjoy our music.”

He explained how DJs introduce new sounds at parties, on the radio, and at big events, saying, “A DJ can take a song from a small town and make it a hit across Ghana and even beyond. They know what makes people excited and moving.”

Daddy Bosco also called for greater respect for DJs, noting their key role in growing Ghana’s vibrant music scene. While artists create songs, it is often the DJs who bring them to life and popularity.

This year’s awards, now in the 13th edition, carry the theme Shake The Floor. Daddy Bosco described it as a call for DJs to raise the bar in musical energy and creativity. “I often ask DJs how they feel when they play, but the dancefloor is empty. That’s why this theme challenges every DJ to bring fresh energy and innovation wherever they perform.”

The launch at Luna revealed a full line up of performances and activities before the grand finale set for November 29 at the Palms Convention Center. Pre-event highlights include the Pub Fest, Ladies Concert, Nominees Jam, a nationwide tour, and the Ghana DJ Clinic offering training to DJs and music professionals.

Powered by Smirnoff, the Guinness Ghana DJ Awards continue to celebrate the DJs who give life to Ghana’s music scene, uniting communities through sound and passion. This year’s theme invites all DJs to truly shake the floor and set new standards in the industry.
