At the launch of the 2025 Guinness Ghana DJ Awards, Yaa Amoah-Owusu, Marketing Manager for Spirits & Ready To Drink at Guinness Ghana, spoke with Kofi Hayford about the exciting plans for the year’s activities and new ways to support Ghanaian DJs.
Now in the third year of their three-year partnership, Guinness Ghana and Smirnoff are committed to celebrating the DJs who are truly life of the party.
Yaa Amoah-Owusu shared, “Im so excited about this partnership when we signed the three-year deal, and I’m happy that we’ve done this for two years. This year is our third year, and I mean, see, look around everybody’s excited about this journey. The DJs are the life of the party. So, for us at Guinness Ghana, being there for the DJs, we’re very excited.”
She revealed that from July to November, the awards will feature back-to-back events including a regional Pub Fest tour and expanded DJ Clinics for training, with new stops in Takoradi, Accra, and Kumasi. The season will end with grand award nights recognizing the best DJs.
Importantly, winners will receive more than just trophies. Yaa Amoah-Owusu explained, “We’re not just letting the DJs go away with a plaque. We’re going to give the DJs sophisticated consoles for the overall DJ and female DJ, and a MacBook laptop with headphones for the campus DJ. All of this is ensuring that we are powering their craft and not just giving them the plaque as the icing on the cake.”
A standout event this year will be an all female DJ concert in Accra this September, celebrating the talents of women DJs with a no male DJ policy. She said, “It’s only female DJs, no male is allowed. Women rule the world.”
This interview between Yaa Amoah-Owusu and Kofi Hayford highlighted the deep commitment Guinness Ghana and Smirnoff have to elevating Ghana’s DJ culture through continuous support, education, and celebration.
