Founder of the Ghana DJ Awards, Merqury Quaye, is furious about a statement made by Kidi during an interview on Happy FM with DJ Advicer.
In the interview, the Lynx Entertainment signee stated that artistes sometimes forget to acknowledge DJs when they receive awards especially on the VGMA stage due to tension.
‘…But to be honest, being on that stage, sometimes the tension and the pressure. People even forget to thank God…’, he said.
However, Merqury Quaye is not enthused by this explanation from Kidi, though the singer was the only artiste to acknowledge DJs at the just ended VGMA 2019.
According to Merqury Quaye, DJs come under intense pressure while delivering their duties on air and off air but still manage to stomach frustrations caused by constant calls from artistes asking for extra promotion.
While commenting on the issue on his show, Cruise Control on Hitz FM, he stated that if tension makes artistes forget to acknowledge DJs when they receive awards on stage, then DJs would also use same excuse to ignore demands from artistes.
He added that disc jockeys in Ghana are confronted with numerous challenges but still manage to promote artistes.
This sharp rebuttal from Merqury Quaye, comes barely a week after he had praised Kidi for being the only artiste to appreciate DJs at the VGMA.
