Radio and music fans have been watching and listening to host Merqury Quaye, for what seems like forever. At this point, it feels like Merqury is a celebrity we know really well, even if he doesn’t know us at all.
No matter how much Merqury you’ve listened to, there is plenty of below facts of which you may not be aware. Not anymore, though. Doffachi Africa did some research and dug up several interesting information from Merqury Quaye’s profiles and interviews.

1. Merqury Quaye is a Ghanaian MC, music producer, voiceover artiste, DJ, singer and broadcaster.
2. Merqury Quaye would probably have been one of Ghana’s hottest rappers today if he hadn’t delved into broadcasting. As an outstanding rapper, he was awarded best of Funworld organized by the National Theatre in 1999. This explains why fans see him releasing songs from time to time.
3. A native of Prampram, often referred to as Ghana’s finest Hypeman, Merqury has as hypeman shared the same stages with Shaggy, Fat Joe, Nas, D’Banj, 2Face and P Square.
4. He is the first Ghanaian presenter to host a music video chart show in Ghana; Soundcity top 10 Ghana. It was aired on GTV between 2007 and 2009.
5. In 2008 Merqury’s radio broadcast journey started on Choice 102.3fm as the host of the channel’s drive time late afternoon show dubbed Highway 102.
6. He was perhaps made for drivetime radio; he hosted the drive on Choice FM, Atlantis radio and currently hosts the drive on Hitz 103.9fm.
7. He founded the Ghana DJ Awards, Africa’s first and only nationwide exclusive DJ honors, in 2012. The Ghana DJ Awards highlights, celebrates and rewards DJs for their contribution to the development of the entertainment industry.
8. Merqury Quaye produced and recorded rapper Asem’s first demo and also did demo recordings other top Ghanaian singers including Jupitar, SK Blinks and Famekeke crooner, Adam.
9. His birthday falls on September 16th. An annual event known as Gold Rush Party is organized to celebrate the icon.
10. Merqury Quaye is Ghana’s first radio presenter to create a virtual community. The fandom is known as the Turn Up Army.
