Sa Trinxa, the legendary Ibiza beach club famous for its long standing DJ sessions, has been banned from hosting DJs by local authorities.
This was confirmed by Jon Sa Trinxa, a longtime resident and Balearic beatmaker, who shared the news on social media with the message, “Ibiza cancelled. No more DJs at Sa Trinxa.”
This decision brings to an end a cherished tradition that dates back to the 1970s and has been instrumental in shaping Ibiza’s world renowned music culture.
Ibiza is a small island in the Mediterranean Sea, part of Spain’s Balearic Islands. It is famous worldwide for its beautiful beaches, vibrant nightlife, and as a global hub for electronic dance music. Since the 1970s, Ibiza has attracted music lovers and DJs from around the world, helping to create a unique party culture that blends music, art, and community.
Sa Trinxa, located on the picturesque shores of Ibiza’s Las Salinas beach, has been a key part of this culture. Known for its open air setting and relaxed vibe, Sa Trinxa has hosted legendary DJ sessions that helped define the island’s sound and spirit.
In response to the ban, a petition has been launched to oppose the decision. The move comes amid growing concerns over the island’s limited public spaces and ongoing efforts to manage and reduce tourism.
The petition urges the community to appeal to local officials to reconsider their decision, stating, “To protect this vital part of Ibiza’s music heritage, please sign the petition and support our fight for music freedom at Sa Trinxa.”
