Despite the topsy-turvy of the Ghanaian entertainment industry due to the effects of the Coronavirus pandemic, this year’s edition of the Ghana DJ Awards is set to take place on the 21st of November, 2020.
The global Coronavirus pandemic has fundamentally changed our society and dealt a crippling blow to the entertainment industry especially.
Notwithstanding the major losses the local entertainment industry is currently battling; organizers of Africa’s biggest DJ festival, the annual Ghana DJ Awards have gone above and beyond, to ensure that the 2020 edition of the awards scheme sees the light of day in a very grand style.
The Ghana DJ Awards was created to celebrate and appreciate the talents of Disc Jockeys (DJs), as well as to foster the development of the Ghana music industry by rewarding and celebrating Radio, Mobile, and Club Disc Jockeys who have excelled in their fields of endeavor.
The 2020 edition of the Ghana DJ Awards is also introducing new categories like Lockdown DJ of the year, Student DJ of the year, and Young DJ of the Year.
Chairman of the Ghana DJ Awards board, Rev. Azigiza Jnr said in an interview that, “Ghana DJ Awards will come off this year despite COVID-19 and its toll on the entertainment industry. Our key focus is to maintain the brand regardless of the situation we are faced with”.
This year’s main awards night will however be preceded by an interactive and collaborative workshop that seeks to equip DJs with the needed skill set to enable them to stay in tune with the evolving trends in disc jockeying.
More details will be communicated soon.
