Artistes failed to recognize DJs at VGMA@20 except Kidi – Merqury Quaye

Founder of Ghana DJ Awards, Merqury Qauye, seems unhappy with the deliberate and undeliberate signs of sideline meted out to DJs especially by musicians.

For years, Merqury Quaye has been advocating for the proper recognition of DJs across the country for making artistes and their songs popular.

The brain behind Africa’s biggest DJ Awards Festival indicated his distaste at this shortcoming via a post on Facebook while monitoring proceedings of the just ended VGMAs.

He however heaped praises on Lynx Entertainment signee, Kidi, for acknowledging DJs when he mounted the stage to receive his award.

‘Kidi is the first and only artiste to acknowledge DJs at #VGMA this year. Kidi, thank you for recognizing our contribution’, he posted.

The ‘Thunder’ hit maker picked up an award for ‘Male Vocalist of the Year’ at the VGMAs and he mentioned DJs in his list of acknowledgements as part of his acceptance speech.

Other winners on the night who mounted the stage to give acceptance speeches include Akwaboah, Stonebwoy, Medikal, Diana Antwi Hamilton, and a host of others.
